PSA still in check

I had blood work done on Monday and a visit with my Oncologist yesterday. While the PSA went up, it's still at a low enough level where we can postpone going back on meds. next check up is in 3 months and if the PSA climbs above 1.5, I'll most likely go on meds again. but until then, I'm a happy, health guy!

Mo success

A big THANKS to everyone who supported my Movember efforts. this was the biggest year yet! I'm so very proud to be able to 'pay it forward' and help raise awareness. Together we can find a cure!

It's that time of year when men grow a Mo to help raise awareness around men's health. This year I'm leading the Splunk Mo team and it's been great. I decided to go with a 'smile style', check it out....

Dancing!

Just left my Oncologist's office, dancing down the hallway. my PSA is at 0.46.....still low. It's awesome news and I can hear my mom saying "yes!, that's great news" just like she always did when I told her about my test results. Great day!

15 President's Club trip.....now a 15th surgery

Yup, when my surgeon did my twiste bowel surgery in Nov, 2015, she said "do you know you have a hernia?" Well, it's time to get it fixed. BUT, THERE'S a twist. Due to all my abdominal surgeries, my stomach muscles are separated at 10cm. Surgery scheduled for September 19th.

Cancer sucks

I went to visit my dad last week to help him adjust life without mom. While in Wisconsin I visited my brother who is battling aggressive melanoma. He's struggling with a lot of pain, he walks with a cane, can't work and the doctors are trying to find the right combination of drugs. I also learned that my dad's sister is battling breast cancer and I just received a call from my cousin, Aunt Gerry passed away either last night or early this morning. Cancer sucks, enough already

PSA is rising, but not enough

I had my labs done monday, results today showed my PSA went up from 0.08 to 0.28. Still not enough to go back on meds...yippie!!! cancer is still in remission.

was that my mom speaking to me?

so my mom passed on 5/13, 5/14 was Mother's day. I talked to my mom every day, probably only missed 7 days over the last year. My mom's name was Dorothy. last week, on 6/14, one month after Mother's Day, I called American Express. when the customer service agent came on the phone, she said... "hello Mr. Evans, this is Dorothy" The immediate thought that came to my mind was "mom? is that you?" then I lost it, cried like a baby I believe in some way, it was mom talking to me

Mom passed on 5/13

sorry it's been a while since my last post....my mom passed late on 5/13 in Carlsbad, CA while on vacation. It's been a very tough time since, but I have peace in that mom didn't suffer and went on her own terms. My grieving comes in waves and my guess is it will last the rest of my life. Mom was the best.

Prayers for my mom

My parents were on vacation in San Diego with my older brother. My mom bumped her head while swimming in the pool. Two hours later she complained of a headache and laid down around 6pm pacific time on Thursday. Friday am my brother called 911 bc my mom was unresponsive. Friday they did a crainiotomy to drain the blood and fuse the leak. As of Sunday she still hasn't woke up but she's breathing on her own. Recovery could take weeks. Any and all prayers are needed, thank you

latest PSA

well the latest PSA results are in....0.07 which is a slight movement from 2 months ago which was 0.01 in the past my NC Oncologist would wait until the PSA got to 1.5 or 1.7 and then I would go back on Lupron. This PSA climb came quicker than last time. I went 14 months without an increase the last time I went off ADT meds. another update soon

Bone scan upcoming

I visited my Oncologist and there were some counts from my recent labs that were way out of line. So we're going to do a bone scan to see if the cancer is showing up. Over the past 4 months I've had chronic back pain which could be a sign the cancer is moving. Another update after the scan

Back pain, bone scan?

Lately tons of back pain and I'm not sure if it's related to just muscular or if the cancer is moving. Next visit with my oncologist is February 17, time to ask for a bone scan I think, just to make sure. In the meantime I'm going to have some fun, work hard, spend time with some friends and see what the results say Go be happy!
